It is rather common to suffer from a few digestive disorders because of common health conditions like diarrhea, dehydration etc. Focusing of your diet and nutrition a little more during the summer months may help avoid any kind of health issues during the season. Here are a few simple tips that can be followed to maintain a healthy appetite not only during the summer but throughout the year in order to have a healthy digestive system;
- Drink plenty of fluids
Drink water and plenty of other clear fluids to keep yourself hydrated at all times since the body loses a lot of fluids through sweat
- Consume food sensibly
It is always advisable to avoid excess quantities of fried, fatty and oily foods. During the summer months, consume foods that cool you stomach. For eg: yoghurt that contain probiotics that cool the stomach and provide relief from acidity. Include items like buttermilk, coconut water in you daily diet
- Include herbs in your meals
Herbs like parsley, coriander, ginger, fennel seeds etc. aid in digestion and are good to keep the digestive system healthy and functioning
- Avoid spicy food
Cut down on intake of extremely spicy food to avoid indigestion and gas problems
- Juicy Fruits and vegetables
Indulge in juicy foods like tomatoes, apples, cucumber, watermelon etc.
- Limit intake of caffeine
Excessive intake of caffeine irritates the stomach and causes ulcers, reflux and heartburn.
