Breast cancer is a group of diseases that affect breast tissue.

Some  Facts About Breast Cancer

  1. Most breast cancers are found in women who are 50 years old or older, but breast cancer also affects younger women.
  2. Men also get breast cancer, but it is not very common. Less than 1% of breast cancers occur in men.
  3. Some women are at higher risk for breast cancer than others because of their personal or family medical history or because of certain changes in their genes.
  4. Getting mammograms regularly can lower the risk of dying from breast cancer.

What are the symptoms of breast cancer ??

Symptoms can include any change in the size or the shape of the breast, pain in any area of the breast, nipple discharge other than breast milk (including blood), and a new lump in the breast or underarm.

What are different screening methods ??

Breast cancer screening can save your life. If cancer is detected early, it may be treated and as a result, increasing chances of survival. There are three different screening methods.

Self-examination: In the privacy of your home, you can search for breast cancer symptoms such as lumps or changes in size or shape of the breasts.

Mammogram: Doctors use a low-dose X-ray to detect any signs of breast cancer.   Regular mammograms are the best tests doctors have to find breast cancer early, sometimes up to three years before it can be felt.

What are the ways for diagnosis of breast cancer?

  • Ultrasonogram and MRI of the breast. And biopsy of the affected area of the breast/breast lump.

  • The management of breast cancer depends on various factors, Different modes of management include- LumpectomyMastectomy, Chemotherapy, Radiation and Hormone & Targeted Therapy.
