After finishing his basic qualification in MBBS and MS in General Surgery Dr. Somanathan worked as a lecturer in the department of general surgery where he was handling both the elective and emergency surgeries. He completed his MCH from the very prestigious Mother and Child hospital in the Calicut Medical College where he honed his skills to become a competent pediatric surgeon. He started practicing in Dubai from 2005 onwards and has had the opportunity to work in various hospitals in Dubai like Zulekha hospital, Belhoul specialty hospital, Irani hospital, and Medcare hospitals. He joined Aster DM Healthcare in November 2007 and has performed various surgeries in the general, paediatric, and laparoscopic fields. He is the General Surgeon in Aster Clinic, Al Muteena (DMPC).
